A textile embroidered with polychromatic or monochromatic wool yarn on a plain woven ground. Traditionally made in India, the designs are typically flowers, vines, and leaves. Unlike it’s homonym, crewel work is quite pleasant and not malicious - unless you’re allergic to wool.
It's also the name of a small textile and antique shop in Brooklyn, New York.

It's a crewel world out there. We're here to make it more pleasant to look at.
