Cloisonné Dragon Box
The method of cloisonné dates back to ancient times - making its way from the Middle East and North Africa, to Europe, and to East Asia. Metallic ribbons are bent and shaped to create small cells that are then soldered to the bronze base, and filled with enamel. This box is decorated with a five-clawed dragon with a central flaming pearl. The borders are lined with water and the negative space is filled with clouds.
