Product details

Festival Hanging (Chakla)

“Chalka” translates to “reflection of light,” and the mirrors on this festival hanging would have done just that. Like many textiles in rural India, they were embroidered by the women to show their creative skills and decorate their home. This piece is embroidered using polychromatic silk floss thread on a cotton ground. The maker used mostly satin stitches and Shisha embroidery to secure the mirrors.
