Product details

Mola Cloth

The Cuna people of Panama developed a unique type of applique’, the mola cloth, done mostly in small rectangles that were used as frontpiece for their blouses. Originally molas were made in two colors, one fabric superimposed on the other and the upper one cut and sewn down. Later versions get more intricate, using more layers. Sometime some layers are prints.
