Opium Basket

This rare woven basket was intended to store tobacco and/or opium products. The bottom would store the substances, the middle was for paraphernalia, and the top would close the two baskets below. The piece is shaped to also be used as a pillow. There would have been a thin bamboo strap used to carry it, but that is usually the first element to wear away.
