Tie-Dye Kuba Cloth

A ceremonial skirt of a man, made of raffia and decorated with tie-dyed designs. The freshly woven raffia is a stiff material and has to be washed and pounded to make it supple. This piece consists of five panels that were dyed before being sewn together.
