Z Mola Cloth
A mola cloth decorated with zoomorphic "Z" shapes. The Cuna people of Panama developed a unique type of applique, the mola cloth, done mostly in small rectangles that were used as front pieces for their blouses. Originally molas were made in few colors, one fabric superimposed on the other with the upper one cut and sewn down. Later versions get more intricate, using more layers and complex designs.
